Released on October 29, 1981, by Anthem Records, Exit... Stage Left is Rush's second live double album. Produced by Terry Brown, it compiles choice recordings from the band's 1980 Permanent Waves tour in Glasgow and their 1981 Moving Pictures tour, most notably captured at the Montreal Forum.
🚩FUN FACT : According to Quebec legend, a fan shouts "Mange d'la marde" during the intro of "YYZ", recorded live at the Montreal Forum, as a rough term of endearment meaning "You guys are too damn good!" While most audio experts dismiss it as a mere auditory illusion caused by crowd noise and studio mixing, the theory remains technically possible. Since a mostly French-speaking audience surrounded the ambient microphones during that quiet synth opening, an enthusiastic spectator could have easily been caught on tape. Without isolated audio tracks to prove it either way, this fascinating physical possibility keeps the legendary local rock mystery alive.
