Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy paused and smiled when asked at a press briefing in Brussels on Friday whether U.S. President Donald Trump was treating him as a scapegoat for his own political problems.
The journalist’s question cited Trump’s low approval ratings, high U.S. diesel prices and difficulties in the Middle East war ahead of the midterm elections.
“This is my answer,” Zelenskyy said after the pause, prompting laughter from the audience.
