How to Play Forza Horizon 1 on PC (Native Port, No Emulator, Free) 2026

Forza Horizon 1, the 2012 Xbox 360 game, now runs natively on a Windows PC. This is not an emulator: a free project called Pinyon Shift recompiles the game on your own PC, from a disc you own. In this video I go through every step, from the download to driving, on an RTX 3080.

Only use the official page and check the SHA-256 on the release page; copycat repositories exist.

What you need (from the project's docs):
- The USA retail disc of Forza Horizon (serial MS-2505) as an ISO that you dumped yourself. This video does not link or show where to get the game.
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
- A GPU with Vulkan 1.3. NVIDIA is the tested one, AMD and Intel are not qualified yet
- 4 CPU cores for the Low-spec 60 preset, and about 30 GB of free space
- The first build takes 20 to 60 minutes (about 40 on my PC)

Honest notes:
- It is an unofficial preview and is not affiliated with Microsoft or Playground Games.
- My PC: Intel i7-10700K, RTX 3080, 32 GB RAM. The on-screen counter showed about 117-119 FPS on the Performance 120 preset, and a locked 60 on the Quality 60 preset (2x). Your numbers will differ.
- A few moments of my recording came out garbled and were cut. I could not tell whether the game or my capture caused it.
- Windows SmartScreen warns about the launcher because it is not code signed yet.
