This village was voted the most beautiful in Bulgaria

🇧🇬Leschen is one of the most picturesque mountain villages in Bulgaria, located on the southern slopes of the Western Rhodopes.

In this video, I invite you to take a leisurely walk through the narrow cobblestone streets of Leschen. Here, ancient stone and wooden houses typical of Bulgarian Renaissance architecture have been preserved, and the village offers beautiful views of the Rhodope and Pirin Mountains.

🏡 Some interesting facts about Leschen:
• The name of the village was first mentioned in an Ottoman document in 1671.
• In the past, Leschen was an important trading center in the region, and local residents were engaged in masonry, blacksmithing, and even gold mining from river sand.
• Many old houses were built in the 18th–19th centuries from stone and wood. Their thick stone walls and stone roofs were well adapted to the mountain climate.
• In the center of the village is the Church of St. Paraskeva, built in 1836–1837. Ancient frescoes have been preserved inside.
• Once upon a time, over 500 people lived in Leshten, but today there are very few permanent residents left. Many old houses have been restored and converted into guest houses.
• One of the most famous modern attractions of the village is the “Clay House” - an unusual structure that does not look at all like the traditional houses of Leshten.
