I put Minecraft inside GTA IV, and it actually works (VOD)

I put Minecraft inside GTA IV and played Liberty City as a Minecraft player, live for one evening.

Minecraft owns the player: movement, inventory, hotbar, the blocks I place and break. GTA IV owns the camera and the picture, and draws those blocks inside Liberty City with its own lighting. Minecraft runs hidden in the background next to the game, and the two talk over a shared memory bridge.

What you will see: Minecraft blocks and mobs on the streets of Broker, skeletons shooting it out with the cops, crossbow fireworks bringing down cars, a nether portal into a blocky copy of Liberty City, elytra flight over the whole map, and Niko actually played by a Minecraft body in cutscenes and cars.

Fair warning: it ends with a real out of memory crash, because that is what happens when you run two games at once for two and a half hours.

The project is open source. Code, setup guide and screenshots: https://github.com/mrborghini/libertycraft

It is a port of the idea behind SkyCraft by chasm, which does the same for Skyrim.
