Ten of the worst graphics cards ever released — from a 1996 "3D accelerator" that actually made games run slower when you turned it on, to a 2018 budget card Nvidia quietly swapped with DDR4 memory at the same price and same name hoping nobody would notice. Covers the S3 ViRGE, Intel i740, ATI Rage Fury MAXX, 3dfx Voodoo 5, GeForce FX 5800 Ultra, GTX 480, GTX Titan Z, GT 1030 DDR4, Radeon VII, and RX 6500 XT.
Some failed because they were too ambitious for the technology of their time. Others failed because the company got lazy and dressed up a bad product to look like a good one. One was so loud reviewers compared it to a vacuum cleaner. Another was a $2,999 dual-GPU card that couldn't justify its price against two cheaper cards running together. And the last entry wasn't even a desktop GPU — it was a leftover laptop chip AMD cleared out during a shortage and priced like it belonged there.
