This week I’m taking another look at DLSS 5 Neural Rendering — this time in Unreal Tournament 2004!
Using the excellent OldUnreal UT2004 installer together with RHI to handle ReShade and the DLSS 5 setup, getting everything running was much easier than my previous UT99 experiment.
And the results are surprisingly impressive! UT2004 gives the neural renderer a lot more detail to work with, and DLSS 5 can noticeably enhance materials, lighting and the overall look of the game while still keeping that classic UT2004 style.
As always, this is an experimental/unofficial implementation rather than native DLSS support — but it’s fascinating seeing modern neural rendering applied to a game from 2004.
