Shattered Mountain: the "Crown" of Aeternum

Shattered Mountain is an endgame zone in the MMORPG New World: Aeternum, located in the northern region of the island of Aeternum. Known as the “crown of Aeternum,” this vast, splintered mountain range is completely dominated by Corruption. Jagged peaks, volcanic fissures, scorched earth, ash-choked valleys, and glowing red-black Corruption crystals define the landscape. The air is thick with heat, toxic fumes, and an overwhelming sense of impending doom. It represents the epicenter of the island’s Corruption and serves as one of the most dangerous and rewarding territories for max-level players.

Shattered Mountain was once the crowning fortress region of Aeternum (centered on Myrkgard). It has since become the primary stronghold and origin point of the Corruption’s most aggressive expansion. Environmental storytelling and lore pages depict the fall of the fortress, the transformation of its defenders into eternal thralls of Corruption, and the mountain’s ongoing volcanic activity tied to deeper supernatural forces. The atmosphere is one of pure apocalyptic dread — crimson skies, rivers of molten rock or Corruption, ash storms, and the constant sense that the island’s darkness is strongest here.
