The Baltic Sea Anomaly was discovered by the Ocean X Team in 2011 after sonar revealed a massive circular object on the seafloor. When the team returned to investigate, they claimed cameras, sonar equipment, compasses, and other electronics repeatedly malfunctioned near the object.
This documentary investigates the Baltic Sea Anomaly, Ocean X, Dennis Asberg, the original sonar footage, the alleged equipment failures, geological explanations, and the newer 2025 scans that brought the mystery back into the spotlight.
When Ocean X returned to investigate the mysterious seabed structure, crew members reported sonar failures, malfunctioning cameras, compass problems, and other electronic equipment behaving strangely near the anomaly. Divers later described flat surfaces, straight edges, circular formations, step-like structures, and sections that appeared almost artificial.
But laboratory analysis complicated the mystery. Samples recovered from the Baltic Sea object were identified as rock, including basaltic material — supporting geological explanations rather than an extraterrestrial spacecraft. Scientists have suggested that glaciers moving across Northern Europe during the last Ice Age could have transported and fractured the rock, creating the unusual formation seen today.
Then new data reopened the debate.
In 2025, Dennis Åsberg released newer multi-beam and sub-bottom sonar data that he argues shows the Baltic Sea Anomaly sitting above layers of sediment rather than being permanently fused into the underlying seabed. That does not prove the object is artificial — but it raises another question about exactly how this strange formation reached its present location.
Is the Baltic Sea Anomaly simply an extraordinary glacial formation shaped by nature — or is there still something beneath the Baltic Sea that science has not fully explained?
