A contractor was selected to perform remediation work at the Empire Towers, following last week's structural concerns that forced the building's closure. Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman posted a statement Thursday night on social media saying that a structural engineering firm has evaluated the site and a contractor "plans to begin remediation soon," which will be divided into two phases. The statement said the first phase will take 10-14 days, but no timeframe has been announced for the second phase.
