I created a showcase comparing how AI reacts to grenades across 20 FPS games.
From Half-Life and Call of Duty to F.E.A.R., Halo Infinite, Starfield and Titanfall 2, this video examines grenade awareness, evasive behavior and survival responses across different generations of FPS games.
Depending on the game and situation, AI can run from the blast, dive, combat roll, vault over cover, brace for impact, warn nearby allies or pick up the grenade and throw it back. Some NPCs can react while the grenade is still airborne, while others continue fighting and completely ignore the danger.
The video also explores how awareness, distance, combat state, pathfinding and available cover can affect whether the AI successfully escapes—or reacts too late.
