Maryland is preparing for more hot weather on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures expected to approach 100 degrees. The Baltimore City Health Department declared a Code Red Extreme Heat Alert for Wednesday and Thursday. The return of the heat to Maryland coincides with the end of a moratorium on electricity shutoffs for past-due customers. The Maryland Public Service Commission had previously forced the suspension of Baltimore Gas and Electric shutoffs due to customer service issues.
