Argentina's Hidden History | Where Did All the Black People Go?

Argentina is often described as one of the most European countries in Latin America.

But this image hides a forgotten part of its past.

In the 18th and early 19th centuries, Buenos Aires had a significant Afro-descendant population. In some neighborhoods, Black and mixed-race people represented close to one third of the population.

This video explores the wars, epidemics, immigration policies, and census changes that reshaped Argentina’s identity and erased much of its Afro-Argentine presence from the national story.

A story about race, memory, and how countries choose to remember their past.
