I Went Back to Afghanistan in 2026... The Change Shocked Me 🇦🇫

I first travelled to Afghanistan in 2024, and honestly, I never thought I would go back. But two years later, I found myself in Dubai airport, staring up at Kabul on the screens, preparing to return to Afghanistan under Taliban rule.

In this first episode of my new Afghanistan travel series, I explore Kabul in 2026 — from the old city markets and local street life to the modern side of the capital, including new luxury developments, $250,000 apartments, high-end hypermarkets and major construction projects like Sultani Tower.

But Kabul is also a city of sharp contrasts. Alongside the new buildings and investment, I speak to locals about daily life, rising costs, poverty, and the ongoing restrictions women live under in Afghanistan.

I also meet Michelle, an inspiring Afghan businesswoman who studied online and built her own brand, La Michelle, despite the challenges facing women in Afghanistan today.
This series will explore the good, the bad and the ugly of Afghan life and culture — but in this first video, I’m back in Kabul to see what has changed, what hasn’t, and what it feels like to return.
