Dirtzone, a low-budget 4x4 indie racer developed by a tiny four-person team, silently launched onto Steam in September 2025. Lacking a marketing campaign, the game debuted with a $5 price tag and bold promises of offering "the ultimate offroad adventure." The core gameplay focused on chaotic, brake-free arcade racing, challenging players to navigate treacherous mud, unpredictable weather, and massive ramps while aggressively smashing into AI traffic..

Now in mid-2026, roughly a year post-launch, the game remains a literal ghost town on Steam with very few player reviews. Those who did buy it quickly exposed major flaws, revealing that the controller layout menu contained bizarre, AI-generated graphics and that the entire project was essentially an asset flip using a standard Unity template. At launch, the physics were notoriously awful, making the heavy trucks handle more like broken shopping carts..
