Dilberay tells the powerful life story of Dilber Ay, a legendary Turkish folk singer who endured a lifetime of hardships before passing away in 2019. Born in Kahramanmaraş as the daughter of a family with eight children, her life began in a nomadic tent. At just 13 years old, she was sold to a much older man for money. Despite being forced into marriage and motherhood at a young age, her greatest passion was singing—a passion for which she was beaten and tortured. Yet, despite every ounce of pain she endured, she found strength in her voice and stepped onto the stage. Throughout her life, she experienced both the absolute pinnacle of fame and the deepest rock bottoms, always pulling herself out of the darkest depths by doing what she loved most: singing.
