Germany beat the Netherlands 7-0 in front of 45,000 fans, producing one of their biggest wins over the Dutch national team. Albert Brülls opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Aki Schmidt doubled the lead before half-time.

After the break, the match became Uwe Seeler’s night. The German legend scored three times in the second half, completing a classic hat-trick performance and turning a strong German win into a historic rout.

Aki Schmidt added his second goal late on, and Gerhard Siedl scored the seventh in the final minute. With Seeler, Helmut Rahn, Brülls, Schmidt, Siedl and Sepp Herberger’s side in full control, Germany gave the Netherlands a painful night in Cologne.
