The announcement was made this Monday (May 18) at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro, and it sent shockwaves across the entire football world. After two years and seven months without playing for the Seleção — his last appearance ending in a devastating knee injury against Uruguay in October 2023 — the Santos forward has finally earned his place back in the national team.

What makes this even more remarkable is that Ancelotti had left Neymar out of all five of his previous squad announcements since taking charge in May 2025. The turning point? Consistency. Neymar played 9 of Santos' last 12 matches, proving his fitness and silencing every doubter. Ancelotti himself said it clearly: "We evaluated Neymar throughout the entire year. If someone deserves to play, they will play."

Notable absences due to injury: Rodrygo, Estêvão and Éder Militão all miss out. The full squad features world-class names including Vinicius Jr., Raphinha, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Marquinhos, Martinelli, Matheus Cunha and Endrick alongside the returning Neymar.
Brazil are in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland. Their World Cup journey begins on June 13 against Morocco at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Before that, a warm-up friendly against Panama on May 31 at the Maracanã.
