Windows 11 Experimental Build 26300.8289 (26H2): What's New?

The Windows Insider changes are live, and with them, Dev is no more! Dev Insiders are now on the 26H2 (branded "25H2") path of the Experimental Channel, with build 26300.8289 being the first flight in the new channel layout. Feature Flags are also here, letting Experimental Insiders bypass gradual rollouts for notable features as part of the K2 effort to fix all things Windows.

There are several notable features, most hidden. Windows Update now gives you better pause controls and the power menu in Start now always offers options to shut down or restart without updating. Hidden in this build are updated spinning ring animations on the login screen and shutdown/restart/etc. screens for better UI consistency, a very rough implementation of the movable taskbar, a screen tint feature and an updated modern Run dialog.

The "25H2" path of the Experimental Channel actually receives 26300.xxxx builds, which may include extra platform work and are preview builds of the Windows 11 2026 Update/Windows 11, version 26H2.
