Christopher Columbus faces the most intense scrutiny yet.
At Salamanca, a royal committee of scholars questions:
• His calculations
• His maps
• His faith
• His sanity
Some call him a visionary.
Others call him a fanatic.
Then shocking news arrives from Portugal:
His old rival Don Pedro Dulmo has launched his own westward voyage.
If Dulmo succeeds, Columbus’ dream dies.
But fate intervenes.
A violent storm destroys Dulmo’s expedition.
Spain defeats Málaga.
Granada is under siege.
War drains the treasury.
And once again — Columbus is rejected.
But Queen Isabella gives him one promise:
When the war ends… his dream will be reconsidered.
