Donald Trump blasts Italian PM Meloni as relationship with European allies fractures

US President Donald Trump has slammed Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as tensions escalate with European allies amid the Iran war.

President Trump revealed he was “wrong” about Meloni, accusing the Italian leader of lacking “courage”.

Trump’s remarks came during an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, in which the president responded to Meloni’s criticisms of his attacks on the Pope.

Meloni asserted that Trump’s remarks about Pope Leo XIV were “unacceptable”, with the president responding, “She is the one who is unacceptable”.
