I find most modern horror movies pretty dull. This sent me spiraling into horror history, why movies don’t scare us like they used to, the genius of The Blair Witch Project, weird fears of mustard, haunted forests, 19th-century racehorses, demon smoke, and how cinema learned to freak us out.
