If you owned a PS1, PS2, or PS3, you played Hot Pursuit. But did you know that EA pulled some truly bizarre moves with these releases? Depending on which console you played, you were literally getting a different game.
In this video, I’m breaking down the complete evolution and the unreleased content of EVERY Need for Speed Hot Pursuit:
- NFS III: Hot Pursuit (1998): The game that defined the formula on PS1. But we can't be hypocrites here—the PC version was vastly superior, featuring unreleased content like "Empire City" that the PS1 just couldn’t handle.
- Hot Pursuit 2 (2002): The 10th-anniversary celebration that turned into a developmental nightmare. EA literally split the game between two studios! The PS2 version (developed by Black Box) is a masterpiece, featuring interactive soundtracks and helicopters that drop explosive oil drums. But the Xbox and GameCube versions? They had bizarre "soap physics" and helicopters that just dropped weak smoke bombs.
- Hot Pursuit (2010) & Remastered: Criterion Games took over and turned the game into a lethal weapon. EMPs, spike strips, and the ingenious "Autolog" that essentially hacked your brain to keep you competing offline against your friends.
