In this video I document my experience photographing the Total Lunar Eclipse of March 3, 2026. From scouting the location to capturing the eclipse sequence, I show the process of creating both wide-angle and telephoto images of the event.
You’ll see drone footage of the landscape, a telephoto time-lapse of the Moon moving through the Earth’s shadow, and a look at how I built a lunar eclipse composite from the individual frames. I also include some of the behind-the-scenes work involved in shooting and producing the final images and video.
Total lunar eclipses are among the most accessible astronomical events to photograph, and they provide a great opportunity to experiment with different focal lengths and compositions.
