The Ingredients I REFUSE To Buy Generic

As a recipe developer, there are certain ingredients I refuse to buy generic. This isn’t because I’m an ingredient snob or like spending money, it’s because when I’ve used the generic versions I’ve actually found it ends up costing me more. Ruined batches of cookies, cakes, and muffins, I don’t have the time or money to waste on that.

In this video, I’m sharing the specific baking ingredients I always buy name brand, why quality matters for these items, and how generic versions can affect flavor, texture, structure, and consistency in your recipes.

Not every ingredient needs to be premium but these are the ones that I find (based on years of experience) actually make a difference.

If you’ve ever wondered whether name-brand ingredients actually bake better, here’s what years of testing have taught me.

I'd love to see what you're making! Tag me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sugarspun_sam
