How to Increase VIDEO RAM VRAM GRAPHICS MEMORY with Intel HD Graphics OR AMD for Smoother UHD Videos & Gameplay | PowerShell Hack

Are you struggling with choppy gameplay or laggy UHD video playback? VRAM Video RAM plays a crucial role in handling higher-resolution textures and complex graphics, leading to smoother gaming and improved video quality. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to increase video RAM VRAM on your PC using PowerShell, without the need for any third-party software. This method is perfect for systems with integrated graphics, such as Intel HD Graphics or AMD APUs.

Check Your Current VRAM:

Use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool DxDiag: Press Win + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter. Go to the Display tab to see your current Display Memory VRAM.
Alternatively, right-click on the desktop, select Display Settings Advanced Display Settings Display Adapter Properties to check the dynamically allocated memory.
Increase Your VRAM Using PowerShell:

Open PowerShell as an Administrator.
Navigate to the Intel Graphics registry key
$path = "HKLM:\Software\Intel\GMM"

Check if the GMM key exists and create it if it doesn’t
if (-not (Test-Path $path)) { New-Item -Path "HKLM:\Software\Intel" -Name "GMM" -Force }

Set the DedicatedSegmentSize DWORD value to allocate more VRAM (e.g., 512 MB):
New-ItemProperty -Path $path -Name "DedicatedSegmentSize" -PropertyType "DWORD" -Value 512 –Force

Restart your PC to apply the changes.
Verify the Changes:

Right-click on the desktop, go to Display Settings Advanced display settings Display adapter properties, and check the Dedicated Video Memory. You should see an increase in VRAM.
Reverting VRAM to Default: If you need to revert the changes, simply remove the DedicatedSegmentSize registry entry and restart your computer. Follow the steps in the video to return to the default VRAM settings.



To Revert these settings back to default

Open PowerShell as an Administrator

Navigate to the Intel Graphics Registry Key:

$path = "HKLM:\Software\Intel\GMM"

Remove the DedicatedSegmentSize Registry Entry

Remove-ItemProperty -Path $path -Name "DedicatedSegmentSize" -Force



This command deletes the custom VRAM allocation, reverting it back to system defaults.

Restart Your Computer:

Save any open work and restart your PC to apply the changes

Verify VRAM Settings

Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.

Scroll down and click Advanced display settings.

Click Display adapter properties for your primary display.

In the Adapter tab, check the Display Memory (VRAM) value to ensure it has reverted to default.
