Hariharan Celebrates 50 Years of Ghazal With His New Album “Jaan Meri”
A Melodic Tribute to Love and Emotion
A legendary voice that has touched hearts for over decades, Hariharan, the renowned
singer, composer, and ghazal maestro, is all set to mark an extraordinary milestone in
his illustrious career — 50 years of soulful, timeless ghazal artistry. To celebrate this
remarkable journey, he proudly presents “Jaan Meri”, a heartfelt collection of songs
penned by Farhat Shahzad and presented by Sufiscore. This album is a testament to
Hariharan’s enduring passion for love, emotion and the magic of melody.
“Jaan Meri” is a romantic album that beautifully captures the essence of love’s myriad
emotions. Featuring soulful tracks like “Baat Se Baat,” “Bas Mere Kwab,” “Chala Gaya,”
the title track “Jaan Meri,” and “Lahu,” each song is crafted to evoke deep feelings and
stir the soul. All songs are composed and sung by Hariharan himself, showcasing his
unmatched mastery and emotive voice that continues to enchant generations.
Hariharan shares, "Well, I got a bunch of ghazals from Farhat Shahzad Bhai. We've
been recording them gradually, one at a time, for various albums. I’ve sung scores of his
ghazals over the years, but this is the first time Farhat Bhai and I have come together
for a collaboration. The project is called “Jaan Meri”. As the title goes: 'Jaan meri ek
nahi sau baar karke dekh lo' — it’s a romantic album filled with beautiful poetry.
This is the first time Farhat Bhai and I have collaborated directly. Akshay has been the
music producer for this album. The song “Baat Se Baat” was arranged by George
Peters, with Jolly Mukherjee Sahab also contributing as one of the arrangers. We
worked on this project for over two years, sometimes more, and the process extended
through the challenging times of the COVID pandemic. We made good use of that
period. The instrumentation involved talented musicians from Calcutta and Bombay,
which added to the richness of the recordings."
Every lyric has been penned by Farhat Shahzad, giving the album a poetic depth that
resonates with heart and humanity. The recording process was handled with precision
at In The Mix Studios, with Saibu V Simon and Bijin Mathew capturing the magic behind
the scenes. The mixing is done by K J Singh, and the album’s finishing touches were
perfected by Darren Heelis at The Pierce Rooms in London.
Hariharan’s “Jaan Meri” is more than just an album; it’s a soulful voyage through love’s
timeless landscape, a celebration of half a century of musical excellence, and a gift to
his fans who have supported him through every note and lyric. This release reaffirms
Hariharan’s position as one of the most revered voices in Indian music, blending
tradition with modern emotion to create something truly special.
As he continues to inspire and elevate the art of ghazal singing, Hariharan invites
listeners to immerse themselves in the magic of “Jaan Meri”, a musical tribute to love,
longing, and the enduring power of heartfelt melody. The album will be released on
February 15, 2026 across all major streaming platforms.
Let the soulful voice of Hariharan remind us all of the eternal beauty of love through “Jaan Meri”
