Rune: Viking Warlord | PS2 | Longplay Full Game Walkthrough No Commentary

1440p60/4K60 Longplay of Rune: Viking Warlord, a PS2 port of the 2000 Action-Adventure game, Rune. This is pretty much a straight port to PS2, on Unreal Engine 1, with a few new maps and a handful of new types of enemies. Both this and the original Rune were developed by Human Head Studios, published by Take-Two Interactive, on PC in October 2000, and on PS2 in July 2001. This here is obviously the PS2 version, running on the PCSX2 emulator at 3840x2560 resolution, above 4K then, with much tinkering done to enable better looking textures, better scaling, to remove artifacting and dithering completely (it's nasty on PS2 hardware), and with a rock solid lock to 60 fps here. NTSC version. Recorded at 1440p60 and not 4K60 becuase I forgot to switch one option, but this was played in 4K regardless. H.265 HEVC via OBS.

The story begins when the player, as Ragnar, is initiated into the Odinsblade, an order of warriors sworn to protect the runestones, magical creations of Odin which bind the evil god, Loki and prevent him from unleashing Ragnarok – the end of the world. Ragnar has completed his initiation by beating the great warrior Ulf in combat, when a warrior bursts into the scene and informs the two that a Viking known as Conrack is leading a raid on an allied village. Ragnar and the rest of his village's warriors are assembled into a longship to do battle.

They encounter Conrack's longship, and Ragnar's father is about to order his men to attack, when Conrack calls upon Loki and destroys the ship with a thunderbolt. The ship sinks, killing all on board but Ragnar, who receives a message from Odin that it is not his time to die.
