Senegal’s second AFCON title, following their 2021 triumph, was overshadowed by a potential scandal when Senegal threatened to abandon the final after a penalty was awarded to Morocco, which required a VAR review.

Brahim, who was fouled inside the box, attempted a 'Panenka' penalty, but it was easily saved by goalkeeper Édouard Mendy.

The match continued, Morocco missed their chance for victory, and Senegal came back to secure the win with Gueye’s decisive goal.
