President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in the capital city of Abu Dhabi to begin his Working Visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on January 12, 2026 (11:09 PM local time).

At the invitation of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President Marcos Jr. is participating in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026, which has the theme ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go.’ Bringing together the world’s most influential voices, ADSW mobilizes action in energy, finance, technology and society to prepare for the future, transforming ambitious ideas into practical, scalable solutions across sectors.

His Excellency Saeed Bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), welcomed President Marcos Jr. upon his arrival.

From the Philippine side, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro and Philippine Embassy officials led by Ambassador Alfonso Ferdinand Ver greeted the President.

This is the President’s second working visit to the UAE. His inaugural visit to Abu Dhabi in November 2024 marked the first by a Philippine Chief Executive in over 15 years.

The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates established diplomatic relations on August 19, 1974.
