A slightly less traditional Euro-Disco gem.
I searched high and low for any information about Laura Allen, but nothing insightful came up. It could very well be that the girl on the front cover is a model and the vocals were done by someone else. Although only released in Germany, I believe the vocalist to be from the UK, given her discography, as her Discogs page has 3 UK-released and produced 12" singles listed from the early 90s.
An innovative take on a Euro-Disco song, 'You Break Into My Heart' features an exceptionally long instrumental intro before Laura's vocals kick in, starting with the chorus rather than a verse. What some argue brings it down, including myself, is the cheesy Euro-rap section later on, done by MC Miker G, but hey, it was hot at the time. The bassline is not your typical arpeggiated rhythm either, but has 1989 written all over it, which I love. Overall, this is a solid and unique track, even if aged by the rap section.
The song was produced, written and mixed by Dutch producer Renee van Versefeld, with writing credits also attributed to Johan Rövenstrunck and Marc Hartman, also Dutch producers. It was produced and recorded at Future Sound Studio in Utrecht, Netherlands.
I also quite like the cover design, featuring a girl standing on the right with a delightfully 1989 look and an embroidered floral pattern on the left. The maxi single was released on blue vinyl. Blow Up often had coloured vinyl
releases.
