Half‑Life: Element 64 is a fan‑made modification (mod) built on the original Half‑Life game, developed by the community team Dark Vector (not Valve) and playable only if you own Half‑Life.

Rather than retelling the classic Gordon Freeman story beat‑by‑beat, Element 64 reimagines the experience as an action‑focused, old‑school shooter inspired by mid‑1990s FPS classics like Quake and Doom.

The mod is structured into four distinct chapters, each with its own theme, enemies, and boss encounters from infested labs and underground tunnels to military outposts and high‑stakes secret facilities. Players fight through hordes of zombified personnel, alien invaders, and HECU soldiers with familiar weapons from the original game while hunting secrets in classic boomer‑shooter fashion.

A demo version of Element 64 is currently available on Steam, and the full release date has yet to be announced. The project preserves the retro aesthetic and fast‑paced combat that fans of classic FPS titles enjoy, offering a fresh, adrenaline‑heavy take on the Black Mesa universe.
