"Beneath the Solstice Sky" was written and recorded for the winter solstice last year (2024), and now it returns for the solstice of 2025 with this official music video, released here on YouTube at the exact moment of the winter solstice in this part of the world: 21st December 2025 at 3:03pm (GMT) when the earth is tilted the furthest away from the sun.
I'm deeply grateful to Sioned Eleri Roberts for her incredible skill piloting the drone around the main cave we filmed in! Especially as it was her first time flying a drone! Thank you so much Sioned!
This music video has been a year in the making, waiting for snow, finding the right caves and filming on a variety of occasions across a variety of places in Wales to capture the perfect and most cinematic moments I could capture of light and shadow.
The song features original string arrangements and vocals, all written, performed, and recorded by me (Katherine Betteridge) and mastered by Justin Williams of Skinflick. I aimed to create an ethereal song to try to capture the essence of winter!
