What a please it was to reacquaint with Abi's 2nd litter, Jengo Shango and Storm. They didn't remember me from 7 months ago when I got to know them at 10 months old. They grew up FAST... and are the at my favorite age of cheetahs... Sub-Adults or yearlings. At this age they are both cubs and adults at the same time and quite entertaining and fascinating to me.

The cubs didn't remember me from last time. I don't think cheetahs have great short term memory or it may be since you left, you are no longer considered part of the coalition. Either way, it was a joy giving them the choice of reacquainting with me. I forced nothing on them but did encourage them to approach and encounter using play and food... the two favorite things for a sub-adult cheetah.

The two boys, Jengo and Shango are legally mine. Once I've confirmed they are ready for rewilding, I would consider releasing them inside a HIGHLY vetted large game reserve with NO lions, leopards or hyenas. That makes it more difficult. I'd love for them to replace them selves in the breeding program before I do. But they MUST be ready for a wild life. Most of what we've done with them so far helps that goal. Taming is one of them as they don't get quality health care if wild natured when raising them.

I spent some weeks with the boys and sister Storm. Even Abi joined in on the effort, though distant apart from me. Still scared. She is living with them until she can't tolerate them anymore. But it's a LARGE camp and the space allows isolation if you want.

I make some comparison to Star Wars A New Hope with Han Solo storming Storm Troopers and Chris Pratt in Jurassic Park taming velociraptors.

The cubs, mom, and OLDER brother Kayzer joined in on a hunt and shared a blesbok. Kayzer did the killing.

Thanks for watching!
