I've always been curious about where my timber comes from, so I set out to explore the process right from the beginning.

Welcome to the first episode of That Factory Over There, a YouTube series where I'll be travelling around the country to discover how building materials are made.

In this episode, we head into the JNL forrests in the Wairapa reginion to plant a tree and experience the 30 year process first hand.

We'll jump in and get hands-on with pruning, thinning and even get inside the cab of a 1.2 million dollar processing machine that harvests the trees and sorts them to be loaded onto the truck
