Derquan Edwards, who is one of three people charged in connection with the deadly shooting at an Airbnb in Bath Township earlier this month, faced a judge in Akron Municipal Court on Monday morning.
During the brief hearing, a judge set bond for the 18-year-old suspect at $3 million on charges that include one count of murder and nine counts of felonious assault.
His court appearance came just days after authorities announced three arrests in the Nov. 2 shooting, which happened during a party at the Airbnb rental in the 900 block of Top of the Hill Road.
In a press conference Friday, police said Edwards was found in New Philadelphia on Nov. 14. His arrest stemmed from an Akron Police Department investigation regarding the theft of a firearm.
Court records reveal that Edwards was previously charged with felony assault, along with misdemeanor domestic violence and obstructing official business. But when those charges were presented to a grand jury in early July of this year, they returned a "no bill," meaning they didn't find enough evidence to justify an indictment. Edwards was then released from custody.
