Care and comfort are in jeopardy for thousands of frustrated UnitedHealthcare policyholders who are spending significant time and energy to find new doctors after losing in-network coverage at Johns Hopkins Medicine. Finding a new team of doctors has become a full-time job for Lindsay Creed, who is researching providers online and constantly making calls. Everything changed after the stalemate between Johns Hopkins Medicine and UnitedHealthcare. The two walked away from contract negotiations without a deal in September, which meant health care was now out of network for Creed and thousands of other patients seeing Hopkins doctors.
