A criminal defense attorney said the indictment of a Maryland state senator, her brother and a police officer describes a surprising scheme. It comes after Baltimore City Sen. Dalya Attar, D-District 41, was indicted in connection with a federal extortion and conspiracy case. Attar, who was released from custody with certain conditions, said she is fighting the federal charges against her.
