A Maryland state senator, her brother and a Baltimore police officer were indicted last week in connection with a federal extortion and conspiracy case. A grand jury indicted Baltimore City Sen. Dalya Attar, D-District 41; her brother, Joseph Attar; and officer Kalman Finkelstein, according to the indictment obtained Thursday by WBAL-TV 11 News Investigates. Starting in 2019, Dalya Attar, 35, was a state delegate and an assistant state's attorney in Baltimore City until her appointment to fill a vacancy in the state Senate in January 2025. Both her brother and the officer assisted with her 2022 House of Delegates campaign, according to the indictment.
