Esma confronts Cihan, unaware that he is Hançer's husband, and feeling the weight of the past on her shoulders, she says, “This family owes me a life, and I will collect that debt.” These words enrage Cihan, his veins tense, but he restrains himself. Hançer, who gets her name from her sharp gaze, faces an offer that will turn her life upside down.
