The University of Maryland Children's Hospital received a $50 million gift from philanthropist Tom Golisano — the largest gift in the hospital's history. Through this gift, the University of Maryland will launch gene therapy services for children, enhance neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care units, and create a new child-centered space for pediatric patients. Other goals include expanding multi-site studies on rare diseases, CAR T-cell therapy and evidence-based treatments while also advancing research on social determinants of health and community-driven care.
