Illegal school bus passing declines in Howard County

During National School Bus Safety Week, Howard County is celebrating a decrease in drivers illegally passing school buses. The news reflects a national trend of improved safety. A recent survey from the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services found that violations across the country fell by 13%, from 45.2 million in 2024 to 39.3 million in 2025. Justin Meyers, president and chief innovation officer of BusPatrol America, said the AI system and cameras on Howard County school buses have been instrumental in reducing violations.
