Some 42 million Americans who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to buy food are concerned about the continuing federal government shutdown. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins posted on X that there will not be enough funds for SNAP benefits come Nov. 1 because of the government shutdown. Groups that fight against hunger in Maryland and provide resources are also bracing for a potential impact if November SNAP benefits are delayed.
