Established in 1940 and declared a Tiger Reserve in 2007, Mudumalai is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including Bengal tigers, Asian elephants, leopards, Indian gaurs, and over 260 species of birds. Spanning over 600 sq. km, it forms a vital part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and serves as a critical wildlife corridor between Bandipur, Wayanad, and Nagarhole National Parks.
