Starting School in Bulgaria | Why We Chose Local Education for Nix

In this video, we talk about our experience signing Nix up for school here in Bulgaria and what it’s been like so far. Moving to a new country comes with so many decisions and one of the biggest for families is whether to homeschool or send their children to the local school.

For us, we felt that letting Nix attend school here was the best way for her to learn the language, make friends, and feel part of the community. It’s been such a positive experience, and we wanted to share a bit about how it all worked, what the process was like, and why we’re glad we made this choice.

We’re a Welsh-Kiwi family who moved to Bulgaria permanently in 2023, after buying our village home in 2019 and completely falling in love with the country. Everyday life here continues to teach us something new and this has been one of the most meaningful parts of the journey.
