I Counted EVERY War Crime in Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty is THE powerhouse first-person shooter franchise. From Rebirth Island, to Warzone, to the freshly announced Black Ops 7 - the last 20 years have carried us from WWII into sci-fi near-futures all while becoming the largest and highest selling video game series of all time.

It's not without controversy though. Creators have done breakdowns about the Call of Duty's cultural impact and how it highlights (and/or glorifies) the horrors of war. But, for a series so specifically *about war* it's weird that I've never seen anyone try to breakdown how Call of Duty handles depictions of and scenarios involving war crimes.

I will be playing through the entire Call of Duty series in chronological release order, using my research and judgement to Count EVERY War Crime depicted in the campaigns. This series is a retrospective on COD as a franchise but also as a deep dive examination to see if, as the series grew in popularity if the number or severity of war crimes shown changed or were glossed over and justified.

Call of Duty 2 is on the menu today, a classic FPS that I remembered quite fondly and, from a gameplay standpoint, holds up amazingly well. Counting all the war crimes in this one ends up being a beast of a task because of some changes that were made in the gameplay mechanics.
