Ecuadorian authorities have detained five individuals after President Daniel Noboa's convoy was attacked by a crowd of around 500 people throwing rocks as it traveled through Cañar province.
Officials described the incident as an "assassination attempt," though no injuries were immediately reported.
Security forces quickly intervened, dispersing the crowd and securing the president's route.
