Deal to mitigate pollution at Conowingo Dam

An almost decade-long battle over who is responsible for cleaning up the pollution trapped at Conowingo Dam is finally over. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on Thursday announced a $340 million agreement between the state and Constellation Energy intended to reduce the amount of debris coming from the Conowingo Dam. The money will go toward reducing pollution and benefiting wildlife, as well as improving the health of the bay. Environmentalists, state regulators and the dam's operator all had a seat at some 30 mediation sessions to reach the agreement.
