Competency evaluation ordered for man charged with first-degree murder

A Monkton man will be held without bail in connection with the death of his wife, a judge ruled on Tuesday. As a judge began to ask him questions, his defense attorney quickly told the judge of her concerns. The defense immediately asked for a competency evaluation for Anthony Lechner, 55, of Monkton, based on his responses to questions. Lechner is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife, Kimberly Lechner, 56, who was found Monday in a second-floor hallway of the couple's Monkton home. Police said Kimberly Lechner was stabbed multiple times.
