The Maryland Department of the Environment estimates it found some 25,000 dead fish in Baltimore's harbor. MDE officials told 11 News that crews went to the harbor on Monday and observed dead menhaden from Canton to Locust Point. MDE took water measurements and suspects low dissolved oxygen likely caused a seasonal die-off of algae. There's no reason to believe the low dissolved oxygen was caused by a specific pollution event, MDE says.
